power reqNone; it is a passive paddle driven by the radio's internal keyer or an outboard electronic keyer.
A premium dual-lever iambic paddle using a 'classic' architecture - right-angle arms with magnetic return rather than springs Magnetic action embedded in micro-threaded tubes for ultra-precise, temperature-stable tension adjustment; magnets sit close to the pivot to keep moving mass low for high-speed response Light, rigid black-anodized aircraft-alloy arms, distilling Begali's Magnetic Classic and Magnetic Professional experience Heavy Begali base available in gold or palladium plating, or a titanium finish (black or military green, the 'Signature Professional') with a gold-colored bearing block Specially selected, matched precision bearings (exceeding laboratory-instrument standards), concealed in the base and central bearing block for a clean look Contact-gap friction springs hidden inside the contact posts; a built-in 3.5 mm stereo jack in the base for a tidy connection Two sets of finger pieces (a longer and a slightly shorter geometry) included so you can choose the translation ratio you prefer Individually inspected by Pietro Begali, serial-numbered in the base, and supplied with a signed certificate of authenticity
Strengths

A reference-grade magnetic paddle: the spring-free magnetic return, set with micro-threaded precision and stable across temperature, gives an exceptionally light, fast, repeatable feel that high-speed operators prize. Low-mass alloy arms, lab-grade matched bearings and a heavy plated base make it both responsive and rock-steady, the built-in jack keeps the desk tidy, and two finger-piece geometries let you tune the ergonomics. Hand-inspected and serial-numbered.

Weaknesses

It is a premium paddle at a premium price, sold mainly direct from Italy (EU VAT, shipping and lead times apply). The magnetic, close-spaced action is a matter of taste - operators used to firm spring returns may need adjustment time - and like any paddle it still requires an electronic keyer. The heavy base is not aimed at ultralight portable use.

Verdict

The Begali Signature is among the finest classic-architecture magnetic paddles made: micro-precise magnetic return, low-mass alloy arms, matched lab-grade bearings and a heavy plated base, finished to display quality and hand-inspected by Begali. It is an outstanding choice for a dedicated CW operator who wants a light, fast, lifetime paddle; those after a simpler or cheaper key will look to a Bencher-class paddle or Begali's smaller Simplex.

The Begali Signature is one of Pietro Begali's flagship paddles - a dual-lever iambic key built in the 'classic' style, with right-angle arms and a magnetic return instead of springs. Begali distilled the lessons of its earlier Magnetic Classic and Magnetic Professional keys into it, aiming for one of the finest paddles of this traditional architecture. Like any paddle it is passive: its contacts feed the dots and dashes to the radio's electronic keyer, which produces the Morse.

Its defining feature is the magnetic action. The return magnets are embedded in micro-threaded tubes, so tension can be set with great precision and holds steady across temperature changes, and the magnets sit close to the pivot to keep the moving mass low - the source of the fast, light response that magnetic paddles are known for. The arms are light but rigid black-anodized aircraft alloy. Underneath the elegance is serious mechanical quality: specially selected, matched precision bearings that exceed laboratory-instrument standards, concealed in the base and central bearing block, with the contact-gap springs hidden inside the contact posts for a clean look.

It sits on Begali's heavy base - available in gold or palladium plating, or a titanium black/military-green finish as the Signature Professional - and connects through a built-in 3.5 mm stereo jack in the base, so no cable dangles when it is unplugged. Two sets of finger pieces (a longer and a shorter geometry) are included so you can pick your preferred feel. Each key is inspected by Pietro Begali personally, serial-numbered in the base, and shipped with a signed certificate. Prices start around 278 euros (308 for the Professional), sold mainly direct from Italy.

It is a step up in size and refinement from the compact Begali Simplex, and a sibling to the sculptural Begali Sculpture in Begali's premium range.
