| Frequency | n/a (antenna mount) |
| Bands | n/a |
| Power | A passive antenna mount; power handling is set by the antenna and connector used. |
| Modes | antenna mount (NMO or UHF base; trunk/lip/hatchback) |
| mount | Clamps a trunk lid, hatchback or vertical door edge with two set screws (no drilling); 3-axis angle adjustment. |
| feed | Pre-wired: K412C = 6.5 ft RG-316 Teflon coax with Mini-UHF + PL-259 adapter; K412SNMO = NMO base + 13.5 ft RG-316 (UHF/NMO base options). |
| power req | None - a passive mount. |
A refined, compact lip mount: 3-axis adjustment makes it easy to get the antenna perfectly vertical, the thin RG-316 coax routes neatly under trim, and the 1.5-inch width and black finish look tidy. No drilling, a protective rubber pad and positive grounding via the set screws make it a clean install for medium HF and VHF/UHF antennas.
It is medium-duty - rated for medium HF antennas under about 45 inches, so very large/heavy whips want the heavier K400 - and the thin RG-316 coax has more loss than a thicker cable on long runs or at UHF. As with any lip mount, a drilled NMO hole gives the best ground, and you must choose the correct base/cable variant.
The Diamond K412 is the deluxe, compact lip mount - 3-axis adjustment, tidy thin coax and a clean black finish for medium HF and VHF/UHF antennas. Choose it for a neat no-drill install of a medium antenna; step up to the K400 for large/heavy whips.
The Diamond K412 is the deluxe, medium-duty companion to the heavy-duty K400 in Diamond's no-drill mount line. Like the K400 it clamps over a trunk lid, hatchback or vertical door edge - no drilling - but it is more refined for medium-size installs: it offers 3-axis adjustment (so you can set the antenna dead vertical on any surface angle), a compact 1.5-inch mounting width, and a tidy black finish. Two set screws and a protective rubber pad hold it firmly and establish the RF ground.
It is recommended for medium HF antennas under about 45 inches as well as VHF/UHF whips, and it comes pre-wired with thin RG-316 Teflon coax that routes neatly under door and trunk trim. As with the K400 you pick the base and connector: the K412C uses 6.5 feet of coax with a Mini-UHF and PL-259 adapter, while the K412SNMO pairs an NMO base with 13.5 feet of RG-316.
The trade-offs are scale and cable: it is medium-duty, so very large or heavy whips belong on the K400, and the thin RG-316 coax has a bit more loss than thicker cable on long runs or at UHF. A drilled NMO hole is still the ultimate ground. For a clean, no-drill install of a medium antenna, though, it is excellent. Compare it with the heavy-duty Diamond K400 and mount a VHF/UHF whip like the Scorpion SA-680 only on the heavier K400.
