Classic MIL-C-17 RG-8-type 50 ohm cable
Stranded bare-copper center; solid PE dielectric
Single 95% bare-copper braid; non-contaminating PVC jacket
High HF power handling; 5000 V rating
More flexible and moisture-tolerant than air-dielectric RG-8
1-450 MHz workhorse for ground and amateur stations
Strengths
Rugged MIL-spec build; solid dielectric resists moisture; high power; universally available with easy PL-259 install.
Weaknesses
Higher loss than LMR-400/9913; heavy and fairly stiff; loss climbs at UHF.
Verdict
The dependable general-purpose RG-8 feedline - solid, cheap and easy to terminate, ideal for HF/VHF where LMR-400's extra cost isn't warranted.
RG-213/U is the classic MIL-C-17 RG-8-type 50-ohm cable: a stranded center, solid PE dielectric, 95% braid and a non-contaminating PVC jacket, with high HF power handling and a 5000 V rating. It is the dependable HF/VHF workhorse and takes a standard PL-259 directly.
Compare the lower-loss Belden 9913 or LMR-400, and the lighter RG-8X.
